Get an instant quoteTL;DR: Couriers do not charge a flat rate per mile. A job has a minimum charge, then per-mile rates that taper as distance grows. On Hauly a local small-van job is from £61, and the figures below show the total for longer trips.
How a courier price is built
- Minimum charge. Covers the driver's time and vehicle cost on even the shortest job.
- Progressive per-mile rate. The first miles cost more per mile than the later ones, so long trips are cheaper per mile.
- Journey time. Slow routes can cost more than the distance alone suggests.
- Urgency and time of day. A percentage uplift for fast collection, and flat charges for evenings, nights and weekends.
- Zones and tolls. Congestion Charge, Dartford, Humber and other tolls are passed on at cost.
